Need: The 7th Symposium on Line Pipe Research was held in Houston, Texas, October 14-16, 1986.

Benefit: The proceedings present articles on the latest technological developments resulting from PRCI sponsored research. Twenty-seven technical papers are available in the symposium proceedings covering the following topics: 1) Pipeline operations and risk assessment; 2) Nondestructive testing and evaluation; 3) Environmental cracking and corrosion; 4) Linepipe design and serviceability; 5) Compressor station performance; 6) Welding; and 7) Acoustic Emission Monitoring on Pipelines.

Result: Much of the research that was presented and discussed over the course of the three-day symposium is focused on improving the safety, the reliability, and the efficient economical operation and construction of pipeline systems.
