Outgoing Chairman's Statement

P. M. Sørensen
President

"Technology for Business"

The natural gas industry faces some formidable technological challenges in the coming decade, but also some excellent opportunities. Forecasters predict an increased demand for natural gas of some two to five percent per year, every year for the next 10 years.  This increased demand translates into a 20 to 50 percent increase in transport volumes from the wellhead to the end-user and represents a real challenge to pipeline engineers.

For 48 years, Pipeline Research Council International, Inc. - the "new PRCI" - has been the preferred organization and model for collaborative development of pipeline technology.  True to its name, PRCI membership is truly global, with members from North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. Our pooled technological know-how is a technology resource that is unrivaled. As we enter a new century, we remain confident in the ongoing value of PRCI to the energy pipeline industry and in our ability to meet the challenges facing the industry and contribute significantly to its ability to realize the opportunities that lie ahead.

I invite all energy pipelines to join us in this exciting endeavor, and I encourage all visitors to our website to take full advantage of the several means for accessing the work we have produced and will continue to produce in the future.
